Gallup defines engaged employees as those who are involved in, enthusiastic about and committed to their work and workplace. In one of the research on employee engagement research conducted by Gallup, it emerged that engaged employees produce better business outcomes than their counterparts irrespective of industry, company size and nationality, and in good economic times and bad.
Therefore, Employee engagement is the involvement of employee with enthusiasm for work, which leads to a positive emotional connect and commitment with the Company. Employee engagement characterises a positive mind set of the employee towards the Company and its values and makes an impact on corporate working.
The organization must work to develop and nurture engagement, which requires a symbiotic relationship between employer and employee. In order to enhance engagement level, the employees need to be provided clarity in terms of expectations, Contribution made by the employee, position in community and well charted growth plan.
